  3. SmartBoard is a "Clipboard Extender" for Windows. The normal 
  4. Windows Clipboard can only retain a single item at a time - 
  5. as soon as you copy a second item on to the Clipboard you 
  6. lose the first one. With SmartBoard running that is no 
  7. longer true, SmartBoard retains multiple "Clip Items", even 
  8. across a Windows restart, and allows simple pasting back of 
  9. any of them into any application. 
  10. <P>
  11. SmartBoard runs as an invisible task in Windows - there is 
  12. no icon cluttering up your desktop - but a single mouse-click 
  13. or hot-key press pops SmartBoard up on top of your current 
  14. application allowing you to select the "Clip Item" you want 
  15. to paste, and then disappears out of the way again having 
  16. pasted it into the current application automatically - you 
  17. don't normally even need to use the application's paste 
  18. command. Using Smartboard is a complete no-brainer, you just 
  19. pop it into your Start-up group and forget it until you need 
  20. it. It appears almost "built-in" to the operating system 
  21. itself.
  22. <P>
  23. SmartBoard supports all clipboard formats, and allows you 
  24. to configure it in exactly the way that works for you. You 
  25. can specify what clipboard formats to capture, from what 
  26. programs, limit captures to items under a specific size and
  27. specify preferred formats from particular programs. For 
  28. example you could specify that you want to capture both
  29. Rich Text Format and plain Text from Microsoft Word, and 
  30. the Lotus compatible XL1 format from Microsoft Excel, but 
  31. only if it is less than 50K in size.

  33. The modern interface looks much like File Manager or the 
  34. Win95 Explorer, with a set of user-definable categories down 
  35. the left side, and the content of the currently selected 
  36. category on the right. In the case of text items the first 
  37. few characters are shown, Bitmaps and Metafiles show as 
  38. thumbnails and other data gives capture details.

  40. You can assign nicknames to any of the items to help 
  41. identification, and you can "zoom-in" on an item for a closer 
  42. look by right-clicking. Zooming in on text presents a pop-up 
  43. window showing the first few lines complete with formatting 
  44. (tabs/line breaks etc.), zooming in on graphics shows them 
  45. full-size. A unique "plug-in viewer" interface allows the 
  46. development of zoom-in capability for any other Clipboard 
  47. format, and we supply a sample which plays any wave files 
  48. that have been captured from the Clipboard. The interface is 
  49. open and we supply sample source-code to help other 
  50. developers.

  52. A system-wide hot-key facility allows you to associate a key
  53. combination with a particular item, then whenever you press 
  54. the key combination the associated item is automatically 
  55. pasted into the current application.
  56. <P>
  57. You can move items around between categories using Drag 'n
  58. Drop, and append multiple text items together. Items can
  59. be edited, printed or copied to file. In the case of Text
  60. items a "template" capability allows the user to create
  61. "boilerplate" items with variable fields that can either be
  62. updated automatically (dates/times etc.) or by the user 
  63. specifying the required replacement data via a dialog box
  64. at paste time.

  66. All the usual elements of a modern Windows application, such
  67. as toolbars, fly-by and context sensitive help are included
  68. making SmartBoard easy to use.
